Ex-player and Head Coach, Bruno Bolchi passed away last night, he was 82. Born in Milan on 21 February 1940, he made his footballing debut for Inter, where he earned the nickname "Maciste" (Goliath) for his muscular physique, at the age of 18, before playing for Verona, Atalanta, Torino and Pro Patria. He also collected four senior caps for Italy.

Despite still playing, the 1971-72 season saw Bolchi start off his managerial career with Pro Patria, before eventually moving onto Bari, Cesena, Lecce and Reggina, taking each club to promotion to Serie A. He also added two promotion successes to Serie B with Bari and Pistoiese. In 1961, Bolchi - who also held a role in the Federal Council - was also the first-ever player to appear on a Panini sticker. "I'm extremely saddened to hear the news of his death", said FIGC President Gabriele Gravina. "First as a player, and then Head Coach and Federal Council member, he was a leading figure in Italian football."
