Former Federal Councillor Vito Giampetro passes away

Vito Giampietro has passed away at the age of 88. Though he was a public prosecutor by trade, he also had a great passion for football and worked in a number of positions in the FIGC. In the early 1990s he worked at the Federal Prosecutor’s Office, before becoming a Federal Councillor responsible for the National Amateur League. He then returned to work for sporting justice, working with the Federal Court of Justice.

Giampietro, who led the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Viterbo and Velletri, also occupied a number of executive positions in the National Amateur League. “With Vito Giampietro’s death,” reflected FIGC President Gabriele Gravina, “I have lost a friend and a colleague I worked alongside for many years. He was truly passionate about football and was a tireless leader, a role model for the entire amateur footballing world.”
