Piergiorgio Gozzer has passed away at the age of 75. Gozzer was a member of the Federal Council in the 2000s, responsible for the National Amateur League while also presiding over the women's youth sides. During his time as Chief Delegate, the Under-19 Women's National Team won the 2008 European Cup.
"Today we say goodbye to a man who made an historic contribution to amateur football," remarked FIGC President Gabriele Gravina. I worked alongside Piergiorgio for years on the Federal Council and I very much appreciated his genuine passion for football and his extraordinary receptiveness to new ideas as a sporting director."
After his career as a player and as a coach, in the 1970s he joined the Trentino-Alto-Adige branch of the National Amateur League Committee, as manager of the teams representing the region. In 1987/88, he began his executive career with his election to the National Amateur League Committee in the region, at that time led by President Carlo Mutinelli, whom he would go on to succeed Mutinelli in 1991, holding the position until 2000.
