Three years on from the sad death of the ‘Doctor’, the person who created and made the idea of the Museo del Calcio (Italy's football museum) happen, the Florence City Council has announced it will name the square 'Fino Fini' at the museum's entrance in his honour.
“We are extremely happy," underlined the current President of the Museo del Calcio foundation, Matteo Marani, who took on the role from the 'Doctor' of continuing to display the history of the game. Fino Fini is present every day in everyone who works here."
"Fino Fini," said Maria Federica Giuliani from the Florence City Council, "was more than just a simple doctor in sport; he was a member, and the heart of soul of the Azzurri for many years, promoting many projects. One of these was the Museo del Calcio. So, to commemorate him, as he deserves, we have decided to name the area opposite the museum's entrace in viale Palazzeschi”.
