Born in San Gennaro Vesuviano on 22 July 1967, he made his senior playing debut in the Coppa Italia for Inter in the 1984/85 season. In his career, he had spells representing Pavia, Foggia, Padova, Torino and Brescia, among others. He hung up his boots while with Seregno, in the semi-pro leagues, where he started a new adventure as a Head Coach, which took him to the dugouts of Alghero, Salò, Arzachena and back to Seregno.

After a stint in charge of AC Milan’s Berretti side, in 2012 he started his journey in Italy’s Youth Team Sector, first as Devis Mangia’s assistant for the Under 21s and then Luigi Di Biagio.

In August 2017, he took on the role of leading the National Under-17 side, leading them to two consecutive European Championship finals, but losing both times out to the Netherlands. In the summer of 2019, he took over the Under 19s, who failed to get past the group stages at the Euros. In the following years, he coached the Under 18s and once again the Under 17s. In 2020,  he led the Under 19s to the semi-finals of the European Championships, which earned them a place at the Under-20 World Cup. After a superb run in the competition, held in Argentina in June 2023, the Under-20s were sadly beaten 1-0 in the final by Uruguay. In the summer of 2023, he became Head Coach of the Under 21s.
