Excitement grows for Elite League fixtures, Sassuolo to host Italy vs. Portugal

It will be Sassuolo’s Enzo Ricci stadium to host the Under 20s Elite League match against Portugal on Tuesday 21 November at 14:00 CEST. The two teams will face each other 4 months after the U19 Euro final in Malta where the Azzurrini were crowned champions of Europe. It will be the 4th time in the history of the Italy Under 20 squad that they play in Sassuolo: the last time was in November last year, a 2-1 win over the Czech Republic thanks to goals from Ambrosino and Cassano.

It’s 10 times, however, that Italy U20s have played Portugal: the record counts 4 Azzurrini wins, 3 draws, and 3 wins for Portugal. The last meeting, again part of the Elite League, was won 2-1 by Italy in September 2022 thanks to goals from Cesare Casadei and Cristian Volpato, the latter now plays for Sassuolo.
